Our key is What Strikes Us. You were hit with ma'am. I'm so used to that sort of perfunctory courtesy -- though it's declining in the South -- that I don't notice its uniqueness. Yet it's your key to the first door of what we witnessed, isn't it? Bill Tammeus calls that a "hmm note" as it made you stop and go "hmm." Good job, Ma'am. -- Ben

As a New Orleanian I want to thank you for your post. One thing I have learned in the years since Katrina is how unique New Orleans and her culture is from the rest of America. If only America could learn from you and realize that their oh so knowing interpretations of the city are so totally wrong. Thank you for coming and being an eye witness as to what New Orleans is today, the good and the bad.

Terry,

Terry -

What beautiful, heartwarming observations. If this what you write when you’re “too overwhelmed to write the column(s)” as you said on the NSNC group email, then I can’t wait to see how wonderful the columns will be. Good work!
